Yes - there are two ports on the Nest Router - a WAN port for the modem to connect to, and a LAN port for hardwiring a device. Hardwiring more than one device will require a network switch, but those are relatively cheap (I have a 5 port switch connected to the LAN port for all of my home theater electronics) One thing to note, if you purchase a second router to use in place of an access point, both the WAN and LAN ports on it will function as LAN ports. Good to have if you need to connect up devices that are far away from the modem (ex. My Wife’s desktop does not have WiFi built in, so we set up the second router at her desk and ran the hardwire from the router to the PC - works great)
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.A Nest technician should really clear this up. A user below said that if you connect a 2nd router as an access point (I.e. the primary router is connected to the modem), then the 2 Ethernet ports will both function as LAN ports (I.e only for connecting hardwired devices). I don’t think that’s true. I use mine as a hard wired access point connected to the other router by Ethernet and it functions as an access point. I think the WIFi signal is even better there since it’s getting the signal by Ethernet instead of over WIFi like a regular access point. I routinely get 800-900 Mbps speeds in that room, which is better than what I get near the regular access point (as expected) It took me a while to figure this out, it’s impossible reach support at Google, for a while I thought double NAT bridge was the issue (but it’s not). I almost returned Nest for EEros but eventually figured it out and now it works great. A little info in the packaging - Google- would go a long way. There is literally nothing in the package to help on this. FYI my ISP is Xfinity X1 in the Bay Area.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. This router can be configured as an access point where the two ethernet connections can be used to connect to two separate devices. They will communicate with the actual router to provide internet access via the ethernet cables through the wifi system. This is what the manufacturer, and other critics, are implying.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, Google Nest WiFi router has 2 Ethernet ports (LAN and WAN). You can use the LAN port to connect to your other devices.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes one per router/pod.
