• I did not have to preorder my pixel XL. Just walked into best buy and in approx 1 hour later left with my phone, all pictures transfer to new phone. I purchased my phone in October 2016.

• In most cases yes. However since a lot of people want it, you will find it sold out quite a bit until the first few weeks hype dies down. But keep looking and be ready to travel to a few locations before you find one available.
