It uses a AAAA battery. You can put a rechargeable battery in it, but there is no way to recharge the Pen itself, you would have to take the battery out and put it in a charger.

The battery is supposed to last a year - i'm pretty sure it is a AAAA battery that can be ordered on Amazon or some other site. The functionality of the pen is really solid in my experience - I wouldn't use the Pixelbook without it.
