• It takes burst of photos, still photos and some other type. But no panoramic photos. mainly for video. For still pictures you need to be really still.

• No, the camera has a large lens angle, meaning it captures photos with larger widths/heights than a normal camera. It has time-lapse mode which allows you to take a picture every second until you tell it to stop (could be useful for capturing larger areas).
