I asked myself the same question before I bought mine. The built in WiFi on the Hero Session allows you to very easily pair it with a smart phone. Just download the GoPro app with your phone, turn on the Session's WiFi and you can see what the camera sees within moments.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.You have to use the APP on your phone to see real time recording. Most GoPro users are not looking at what they are recording because these are considered "Action Cameras", so the idea is to have them mounted to something as you are in action.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.You don't. Best way I have found to get a good frame is to mount it and then use the phone app to adjust where it will shoot from the mount. Then just hope it turns out ok.
