The stock battery lasts up to 2.5 hours, and the backpack gives you up to 2.5 hours more. In cold weather, you may loose 10 to 15%, but in the waterproof case the warm camera itself will keep the battery warm enough to negate much loss if any.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I took the Hero 4 to Colorado last week the temperature was 18 degrees and the camera worked wonders. I had it recording for about an hour and half before the battery started to flash. It will record continuously for about an hour and a half. Hope this helps!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It depends on the video quality selected. 1080 may last 45-60 minutes.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The first time I used my Hero4 was up at Bolton Valley, VT snowboarding. I was able I use the camera for a couple hours (2 - 2 1/2) before needing to charge the battery. They do sell a battery backpack that supports longer battery life but I would suggest just having to batteries with a quick charger (GoPro brand highly recommended) if your son wants to be able to film for an entire day on the mountain. But I can say the camera preformed beautifully and I was happy with all my footage when I got home and I certainly had plenty of it. I have a video on youtube titled My Day at Bolton Valley, VT if you want to see a small film of clips I out together from that day.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The Hero 4 line are all battery hogs compared to the previous models. The batteries are not that expensive, so get a few. All batteries have trouble with the cold. The battery life will depend on how much the camera is working. Filming in high resolution, high frame rates, and using the Pro mode option will all suck up battery juice. Taking short clips, turning off the display, and turning the camera off when not in use will all help
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.About an hour twenty. Batteries are the weak link of this system, but they are cheap enough to keep several on hand.
