“The world is full of a million cards to use. What card would you recommend for this little camera? I've never owned one of these before. I have always used my DSLR Nikon. Thanks in advance for your help. Also which battery works best”

Get one of the faster cards - you'll have more luck with clean image captures and fewer dropped pictures. I have not noticed a difference by brand - get something mid-performance on sale and you should be happy with the results.
