• 9 definitely can. But GoPros software sucks and it’s barely functional sometimes.

• Most of the GoPro cameras from the past several years, including the HERO9 Black, will work with the GoPro Quik app so you can preview what the camera sees before you shoot, watch what you've recorded, and control your camera. And yes, you can start a recording or take a photo remotely using the app.
