Will this protect it from being dropped? null

The protective housing appears very resilient. Similar to a case on a cell phone, it should easily protect the camera itself. The case may crack or break but I suspect only if the fall is higher than a few feet or if it's thrown for some odd reason.

While the Protective Housing may add some protection from drops, it's really designed to protect your GoPro from dirt and flying debris, and for use in deeper water.
