I think it is specifically for waterproofing. I cant find anything on the packaging I still have that indicates impact resistance. Although, the case seems tough and well made that it could provide some impact protection.

It also acts as an overall waterproof dustproof enclosure for your GoPro. The outer lens of the GoPro is removed prior to inserting the GoPro in to the super suit housing.
