Hello Frances. This washer/dryer combo uses a condenser dryer rather than one with a heating element. Condensation drying allows clothes to dry without the need for external venting. It works on the "Hot is attracted to cold" principle: Like a cold drink on a hot day, moisture is attracted to the outside of the glass. Ultimately, condensed moisture drips off the heat exchanger and is drained away with the water used to cool the heat exchanger. Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Because the clothes are wet. When it switches from wash mode to dry mode it is still the same unit. The wet clothes allow condensation to show until they dry.
