• Thank you for your question. Fill water reservoir to max line. Turn Temperature Control Dial to Cotton-Linen setting and let iron heat for 2 minutes. Unplug iron and hold over your sink in ironing position. Press and hold the Self-Clean Button until tank is empty.

• Do not think there should be instruction for when to self clean because it will depend on usage and water hardness. There is a button labeled as self cleaning, I guess you can use it whenever you want to do.
