• No, the device will not deplete your battery. It has its own battery which recharges while your vehicle is in operation, so that it can continue to monitor your car while it is parked.

• I think it does pull a tiny bit of current from your OBD port when your car is off, but shouldn't be enough to harm a good battery. It goes to sleep some time after you're parked, so it doesn't continue to broadcast hotspot.
