• It's not wireless. It will take a LAN connection to get it's guide as well as distribute it's video output.

• Ours is hooked up through the router and I’m not sure about the hotspot ..I apologize I don’t do the electronic/entertainment setups in my house

• All HDHomeRun devices require an ethernet connection, so a hotspot won't work. A router definitely will.
