No it is not safe to ever leave a space heater on while away after some time the power cord gets hot and could cause a electrical fire or short and cause fire so its best to not leave unattended for long periods of time.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Just my opinion, but even though it is probably safe to leave it on and unattended, I would not do that. All space heaters have internal parts hot enough to ignite paper, and anything can happen.
