Hi Kenneth, As a fellow customer, I decided it was wise to purchase the 5 year warranty direct from best buy. I have had best buy tv warranties before, and their response is so much faster than dealing with the manufacturer. If you want reliability, perhaps spending more on a sony or LG or Samsung is your appropriate decision. IMHO, Scott
