It’s more integrated to the google ecosystem….you can setup the tv easier with a google account. You are in no way whatsoever forced to have it or forced to have said account to get the tv up and running, it just makes it more convenient. Another way it is integrated with google is the voice command.

The operating system controls what applications are available to the TV and how they are displayed and function on your TV. So far I like Google TV
