The vent panel is sized to fit the width of the inside of the window frame. The window is them lowered and holds it into place. I use a cut board the length of the distance from the top of the bottom window to the underside top of the top window after the vent is in place. This will keep the vent in place and helps to deter anyone from just lifting the bottom window to allow easy entry into the house.

An adjustable panel fits across the window opening. The panel has an opening that is fitted to the flexible vent hose.
