Refusal to define "True" HEPA, using established, *standardized* nomenclature is HIGHLY UNFORTUNATE. I encourage Honeywell reps here to escalate my reasonable request for additional information to the entities within Honeywell that have the authority to permit disclosure. If Honeywell's R/HEPA filters are H A-13-A or H 14, they would be better than average for this market segment. That would be legitimate "bragging rights." H 13 is the bare minimum I would hope for - which is average/baseline in this market segment. In the meanwhile, "True" is meaningless marketing hype to me. Being deliberately opaque reassures no one.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.It's clear that by not naming it, it's H10-H12. That is the range for "True HEPA." H13+ is considered "Medical Grade" HEPA. I found more info here: https://medifyair.com/blogs/blog-feed/medical-grade-hepa-true-hepa-and-hepa-type-what-s-the-difference It reports how many .1 micron particles the filters catch. All HEPA's must catch 99.97% of particles .3 microns or larger. I don't think there are many harmful particles smaller than .3 microns, but I could be wrong. IMO, H-13 is overkill for most use cases.

Honeywell's own literature refers to "Germ" mode, with an accompanying Riot Act disclaimer about no coronavirus protections. Contradictory, at best. SARS-CoV-2 (and many other hazardous biologics) goes down to 0.1micron. All HEPA will "block" particulates down to 0.3micron. HEPA will stop those from recirculating back into the room. HEPA is also capable of trapping & holding biologics down to 0.1micron, subject to a mechanical *saturation* point. Past 0.1micron saturation, HEPA will resume passing 0.1micron back into the room. In the real world of SARS-CoV-2 & other hazardous 0.1micron biologics, medical grade HEPA is not overkill of any kind & highly preferred by me. Why not offer a medical grade HEPA filter with increased 0.1micron trapping & higher 0.1micron saturation tolerance? We ARE living in a death experiment lab of SARS-CoV-2. Why not fight it w/ medical grade HEPA, too? Otherwise, "Germ" mode seems more like *fig leaf* "protection."
