Does this use or create an ozone? null

The 5300B is not supposed to create ozone. That said... if you think you smell OZONE whenever the 5300B is in operation, your unit might have a fan motor problem. The motor in the 5300B uses AC BRUSH technology. Bad/excessively worn motor brushes can produce micro sparks w/ every revolution & electrical sparking can produce ozone (albeit in much lower quanties than "ionizing" air purifiers). Contact Honeywell/Helen of Troy for warranty support if you think you smell ozone.
