Yes, the heater absolutely needs to be plugged into a power source.

Yes they have to be plugged directly into a regular electric outle, you cannot use an extension cord

yes it's electric. We have tried several electric heaters the past couple of years and this one is really excellent for the money.

With this particular ceramic heater, yes it has to plugged into a socket. It is not battery operated or run on some type of oil it is electric .
