Yes, ok for birds. Neither HEPA nor prefilters give off volitiles. Be careful not to let birds land on top, due to unsightly poop.

This unit comes with all the filters that it needs, however, you will need to replace the A pre-filter every 3 months, and the R HEPA filters every 12 months.
