“We only have 2 wires inside the wall where the old thermostat is. Can i install this thermostat? I see there is some kind of adapter, does this resolve that issue and how does it work? It sounds like it needs to be installed on the actual furnace?”

Hi there! The Resideo Honeywell Home T5+ Thermostat needs a C wire to power on. The adapter that comes with the thermostat is intended for people that do not have a dedicated C wire and have a additional wires connected to their thermostat controlling the fan. The adapter won't work in your situation if you only have two wires. You will need to check to see if you have extra wires at your thermostat that aren't being used, run additional wires from your thermostat to your system, or look into adding a secondary transformer.
