• You do fill it from the top but the container comes out and you can put it under the sink.

• It is the easiest filling humidifier ever. You don’t even have to open anything up to fill it. And no there were no shipping charges

• Yes, water is added through the top of the tank. You can either slowly pour it with a partial lid in place, or easily remove the lid and fill it much more quickly. When I purchased mine, shipping was free. That may not be true now. Check out will tell you.
