Hi Carol! The T-Series WindTunnel can be used on hard floor surfaces including hardwood floors. The brushroll on this model will continue to spin on bare floors. For best performance on bare floors, we recommend a vacuum with a brushroll on/off option. Hope this helps! ~Kenya, Hoover Customer Care
