Is this a 'self-propelled' vacuum? null

No, you will need to push it like all standard vacuums. It isn't heavy or hard to push so should be alright for the average person.

As it is not a self propelled vac, it does move forward with an easy glide then just as smooth on the return. If I could recommend stopping in store for a plug in try out.
