Q: QuestionAfter the wash cycle has ended, all of the water does not drain out of the washer. The dirty water just sits on the bottom of the washer
Asked by Bill.
- A:Answer Hello, Oh no! We're terribly sorry to hear that your dishwasher is not draining properly. We certainly understand how aggravating that must be. If excessive water is remaining in the bottom of the dishwasher, there are a few things that can cause this issue. Make sure there is not any paper or large object covering or blocking the sump area in the rear of the tub. Clear out any large pieces of food from the bottom of the dishwasher like noodles, lettuce, bones, etc. Using the wrong type or too much detergent can cause over-sudsing that can prevent the dishwasher from draining properly. For a full list of troubleshooting solutions, please check out a support article on our site titled "Dishwasher - Not Draining". We hope this is helpful. Keep in touch! Mike@GEA

Q: QuestionWhy does this not clean my dishes? I have used pods, liquid gel, and powder, along with rinse aid and NOTHING works!! I have tried EVERY cycle, to no avail. I have had this for over a year now and NOTHING has gotten better, only worse. WHY???
Asked by Jlsmom2x.
- A:Answer Hi Jlsmom2x- We are sorry for this experience. This is certainly not what we would expect to hear. Check the water pressure. The water pressure to the dishwasher should be 20 - 120 PSI (3/8" O.D. copper water line or 1/2" O.D. plastic water line). Check the water temperature. Proper water temperature is essential to achieve optimum results from your dishwasher and the detergent. Hot water is needed to dissolve and activate the detergent so that it can loosen and remove common food soils. The hot water heater should be set to deliver at least 120 degree Fahrenheit water to the dishwasher. To check the water temperature, run the hot water at the kitchen sink and measure the temperature of the running water with a candy or meat thermometer. Adjust the temperature of the water heater accordingly. To be sure that the dishwasher is filling with the hottest possible water, run the hot water faucet at the kitchen sink prior to operating the dishwasher. Avoid running the dishwasher while hot water is being used for other activities. Do not use the dishwasher soon after running the washer (on hot), filling a bathtub, etc. Automatic dishwashing detergents are now phosphate-free to comply with various state regulations that became effective July 1, 2010. This can affect the cleaning performance. We recommend using a high rated detergent, such as Cascade Platinum or Finish® Quantum® Automatic Dishwashing Detergents. Avoid placing items over the retractable tower area in the lower rack. This tower provides wash action to the upper rack. See the following link- DISHWASHER POOR WASH PERFORMANCE: http://products.geappliances.com/appliance/gea-support-search-content?contentId=17452 - If the above suggestions do not correct the situation, we encourage you to contact GE Appliance Service at 1-800-432-2737 or schedule a service appointment online: http://www.geappliances.com/ge/service-and-support/service.htm?ICID=GEARsupportflyout-service - We hope this is helpful. Q: QuestionRe Hotpoint HDA2100HCC - Does "Hot Start" function when Normal Wash selected or does it only work with Heavy Wash?
Asked by Me2.
- A:Answer Hello, Thanks for reaching out. Here's an explanation on how the Hot Start function works. How it Works: It actually heats the tub, spray arms, dishes, (prior to the main wash cycle) allowing proper cleaning without affecting the energy label. Once selected, approximately 1-1/2 gallons of water enters the tub, circulates in the tub for 5 mins and then drains. This helps to purge cold water that may be in the line. Then another 1-1/2 gallons of water enters the tub and circulates for approx. 15 to 20 minutes and then drains. The heating element is on during this period of Auto HotStart (or HotStart), heating up the water and the tub. After this option is run, the dishwasher will automatically go into the cycle that has been selected. NOTE: On TouchTap (Nautilus) control models, in order to activate the HotStart option, you must select the button on the left and turn the dial to the appropriate position. On Non-TouchTap control models, simply turn the dial to the appropriate position. We hope this helps! Mike@GEA
