Hi Jabsher, thanks very much for reaching out! When you select BAKE, the burner (glo-bar) below the floor of the oven is ignited; there is typically no top heat from the broil glo-bar while baking. In BROIL, only the top glo-bar is ignited. Most gas ovens are set up to broil with the oven door closed. When broiling it is not uncommon for the gas to cycle off and on, even if set at the 550 degree setting. This is normal and will not affect your broiling performance. The oven temperature light will also cycle on and off. This is also true of models with in-drawer broiling. Since this is a gas range, it would use a glo-bar in the oven. The cooktop burners use electrical ignition to light the gas as it comes out of the burner. We hope that this helps! Stay safe. -Michael
