Yes. You have to kick off like a regular scooter to make it work anyway.

Replacement scooter failed right out of the box with overheating and the “throttle” would stick wide open. Returned second scooter and got my money back. It’s a good design but poorly executed. The dude at BB said he had been getting alot of them returned. You can ride it like a regular scooter, but if you’re spending $300 you shouldn’t have to.
