Yes, it's likely the same kind of storage used in your phone, too. But you are missing the point of a Chromebook: the OS is lightweight & runs online apps (no downloading large pieces of software), your data stays online, and in case you do feel like storing a whole bunch information on it (you shouldn't), you can use the microSD card slot for expansion should you run out. The usage of this type of solid state drive also enables extremely fast speeds while maintaining a very thin profile.

There is a MicroSD slot that can accommodate a MicroSD card, up to 256 GB in size, which is highly recommended for additional storage. Works great, used in this manner. 256 GB is more than enough for pictures, music files, documents, video, etc.
