This computer does not have the memory or processing power required to do the multitasking required for basic college work. A computer that is good for basic college work would be one that has at least an i3 or equivalent processor and 8GB of memory. The processor has more cores and runs faster for better video and the extra memory allows you to have multiple programs open, as will be required by the type of work. You will also want to consider something from the Pavilion or Envy series: They are made of aluminum rather than plastic, which is very durable. I wish you the best in your studies!
