“I'm looking for a laptop to buy as a Christmas gift for a 12 year old boy foster child. Probably will use it for school work and games. I don't want high end and I don't want low end or junk. Will this computer meet his needs?”

Depends on the game. It probably can do low req games like minecraft. Nothing like a Grand Theft Auto, Call of Duty, or higher end game. It just depends on the game really.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Actually you can play games on this laptop. Some of the comments assume because of the specs that it can't run games. But the reality is they don't test for themselves they just pull an answer out of the air. I have run Steam games and Origin games on this laptop most notably Madden 19 and they run and look pretty decent. You have to tweak the settings and test out the games to see what works for you. Now I tested these games before doing any system upgrades I have just upgraded my SSD to a WD Blue 3D NAND 1TB drive and upgraded my RAM to 16 GB DDR4 2400 MHz Corsair Vengeance memory and this budget laptop now performs comparable to some of the more expensive laptops that I have used. It is not a high end gaming system but for the price a nice laptop none the less. I was even able to convert the 128 GB SSD into a nice USB drive to store and move files ! I did these upgrades myself and ordered my parts from Amazon!
