    • Answer Assuming by "Doc" you mean a file with that extension, which is the Word application: No. At least not on the sale I saw (mid-February 2025), which is why Best Buy is offering a discounted MS Office Suite 1-year subscription. Your options: limited use of Excel, Word, and PowerPoint via the browser, get the subscription deal BB is offering, buy MS Office outright, get a free suite, like Kingsoft.

    • Answer Providing more information: If not preloaded, you can download a free 30-day trial of the Microsoft Suite. At the end of the 30-days, you can either opt for one of the subscriptions available, or buy a version of your choice. Also, one Suite application at a time can be used for free with the Edge browser. Furthermore, In case you are unaware, non-MS Office programs are available from other manufacturers, for free. Some people even prefer these, as they can have better integration between the different programs in the Suite.

    • Answer Thank you for the question. The HP 15-fd0107dx does not have a CD/DVD drive. Most modern laptops do not have them because users are now streaming or downloading content. If you prefer a CD player, external models that connect via USB are very affordable. The Intel i7 processor and 16GB of RAM are going to make for robust performance. Note that the storage is 512GB. You can either remove that SSD and add one with more capacity, or connect an external drive if you'll want more file storage.

    • Answer Hello and thank you for asking. Regarding running Linux on the HP 15-fd0107dx laptop computer, it comes with Windows 11 Home in S Mode. HP has not tested any Linux distribution, as HP computers are configured for Windows. Therefore, HP does not support a configuration with an operating system other than Microsoft Windows on PCs that come with Windows pre-installed. You would be installing Linux at your own risk.

    • Answer I believe you have to buy a separate plan from Geek Squad for everything you buy, so one for the laptop, another for one TV, another for a second TV, etc. , but yes, home visits should be included for each.

    • Answer Hi Nick, thanks for your question. With S mode you can only install apps from the Microsoft app store. S mode combined with the built-in Windows security software is designed to keep the laptop secure. You can switch the laptop out of S mode and into Windows 11 Home for free. This would let you install any software you want. You can do this in the Windows account settings of the laptop.

    • Answer I hope you have resolved this issue by now, but for all others: I believe that if you don't buy the extra warranty at time of purchase, you have a 30-day window to do so. Check the bottom of any Best Buy page for suitable links, such as the one for Support. Also, you might be eligible for an additional warranty from either HP or a third-party, like your home insurance company (which is often cheaper, by the way).
