“I hear this computer has an empty "SSD bay" but I don't see an empty bay. Anyone have a picture with some arrows, crayon drawing, or technical image pointing it out? Opened mine up and expanded the RAM but looked like the bay was filled. What'd I miss?”

The bay you need is under a black plastic HP branded cover. It looks like the bay is already in use but the HP branded cover is just that a cover. I admit it had me fooled unto I read someone took a look at that HP branded piece of plastic and realized it was just a cover. The bay is under neat it. Remove the screws either side and pull the cover out, then place your HDD/SSD into the slot provided.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I have no picture as I'm to lazy to open up the bay and take one. However yesterday I inserted my own 1TB HDD into this laptop with no problems. Under the cover is a large black HP branded piece of plastic. Remove that piece of plastic by undoing the four screws holding it in place. Then insert the HDD/SSD into the space that the plastic was covering. Replace the laptops back cover and your all done. Its really easy to spot the cover as its the size of a 2.5 " HDD with a clear HP logo on it. Its the only piece in the machine so you can not miss it.
