• It depends. Let's say you have a 3.0 GHz quad core processor and a 3.2 GHz dual core processor. Programs that run their load on one processor core will run faster on the dual-core, but programs that distribute their load will run better on the quad-core.

• quad, a 2gigaherts quad is 2 times as fast as a dual. Unless you do not plan to play games on this I don't recommend it.
