This laptop would most definitely be able to run Linux, if you are asking I recommend a user friendly distro ( this is what we call different versions of Linux) like Ubuntu or Mint. I would recommend installing into a USB3.0 thumb drive so that you don't lose your factory OS (Windows) . This way anytime you want to use your Linux just pop in the USB drive and boot into it.
