• You need to download the drivers then. Check if you have them installed..start menu\type ...device manager\ if you have them installed make sure they are running correctly.if not you need to go to HP home page and download the drivers

• You just have to be patient. I had a hard time opening it also and it is a bit small button on the side. Hope you have resolve this already by now.
