• Don't know which generation I3 you are referring to. I have set up several I3 systems in the past and found this particular AMD system to be equally or more responsive. Intel vs AMD is sort of a "religious" argument. I have found that they perform equally well when comparing similarly benchmarked processors.

• Yes - this quad-core AMD processor is much faster and utilizes memory much better than the i3.
