Actually, it can be expanded to 32GB (two 16GB SODIMM). There are four screws visible on the bottom of the case and an additional six screws located under the long rubber slip guards. Once those are removed, you'll need a pick (same used for removing cell phone screens). Insert the pick between the gap on the top area where the keyboard is and work your way around the computer. The two pieces will snap away from each other. Eventually, the bottom will come completely off and you'll see the memory slots to the right (with the front of the computer facing you). Likely there is only one slot occupied.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. If you look in the Reviews.. a purchaser, opened his laptop and says there are 2 memory slots not 1. He also said that he put another 8gb memory stick into the empty space and his computer recognized it and runs fine. I myself looked up the model number on this laptop and found 2 sites that say it will upgrade for more memory. One site said 32gb and one said 64gb. Perhaps your maintenance insurance (if you purchased it with the laptop), is voided if you open it yourself. Or, they are guaranteeing you will want to upgrade to another laptop. Another possibility is that with the import shortages, they took out, or didn't put in the added memory, saving it for other laptops. Good luck, you can certainly look up the laptop model number and check online about memory.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.HP says "The memory slot is not user accessible on this laptop, therefore not upgradable." Love how they use the term "User Accessible." That's because they don't want You upgrading it on Your Own... Others on here have shown that this laptop is indeed Upgradable, Even removing the bottom panel and showing you photo's that there is indeed a Second Slot that can be used to Upgrade from 8 to16, 32 even 64mg RAM, And that it is fully functional after adding additional RAM. I'm no expert, I have just ordered this computer and don't have it in hand yet, but it sure seems that those with more knowledge than myself say that it is Indeed Upgradable.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. In other words, HP Doesn't want YOU to take the back off and Upgrade the Memory on Your Own to 16, 32 or 64 MG RAM, (But I'll bet a Geek Squad Member would do it for you!)
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I have owned, bought and sold several of these laptops. They are upgradeable to 64G DDR4 2400Mhz RAM! As well as installing a 1T RiseMode SSD! Easily! While HP themselves tells you that it's not accessible by the average person, any computer technician can easily upgrade this laptop without complications! The more RAM you add, the better the graphics, computations and overall performance goes way up and without bottlenecking!
