These machines are considered non-upgradeable and it would be recommended that any upgrades be done by a certified expert. If you are curious about upgrading this machine, you can contact HP Support or Geek Squad. If Geek Squad does the upgrades, it does not void the warranty of the machine, but HP will not cover the new parts.

NOTE: Not user accessible simply means there is no trap door access to the memory slot on the back of the computer. However, like most newer HP laptops they have been designed so the user can open the unit with a Phillips screwdriver and upgrade the memory with relative ease. Most all newer HP's are designed to accept 16GB or more RAM. Although this information doesn't help you make the decision to purchase, if you already have this unit and want to look into a memory upgrade... before tearing into your unit or buying any memory I would suggest you first run a utility like Crucial System Scanner or CPU-Z to verify if the computer's motherboard has a limit the amount of RAM you can upgrade to, as well as identify what the maximum RAM capacity is. Both these utilities are free and they display information about your existing RAM and if extra RAM slots are present in your laptop. Can you downgrade this with a fresh install of Windows 10 or 7. Absolutely, especially if you have a valid license code for the version of 10 or 7 you want to install. TIP: A fresh install will wipe the drive in this unit so be sure to run a utility like Magic Jelly Bean or an alternative app to capture the license key for this Win 11 installation.

Best Buy's website it goes to a maximum of 8GB; however, it also says it has one 8GB stick inside and an additional free slot. Why would that be if you can't install another stick? 2. You can downgrade to Win 10. You have two weeks to decide if you want to keep it. If at any time you return to Win11, that's it. 3. You can't downgrade to anything before Win10. You might be able to install Win7, but would need a separate license for it.
