• yes, salesman demonstrated it in store...as easy as changing battery in flashlight or anything else. Yes it plays DVDs

• Yes. The battery can be removed without tools. DVD's are possible, but since it comes with Windows 10, you either need to buy the MS ransom-ware or download VLC Media Player.
