Yes it is expandable, it has 2 slots and only 1 is occupied. WARNING: they are not user friendly and requires the entire back plate to come off, which if done improperly could break a number of things. Would not recommend doing it if you are not tech savvy. Also i am not sure if this would void the warranty but i did not see any warranty stickers in the way when i took it apart.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. Will an HP expert/rep verify & answer this? I trust Crucial info more than Best Buy (for RAM & storage upgrade info & specs). I'm surprised how often Best Buy's specs are incorrect. Another error? I tend to search online elsewhere to verify, by make & model, or product code (like UPC, EAN, GTIN). So I estimate it's more likely 16GB RAM max, 2 RAM slots, 1 slot empty/available. Since Crucial shows that.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.According to Crucial, yes max is 16GB http://www.crucial.com/usa/en/compatible-upgrade-for/HP---Compaq/hp-17-x116dx
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I've read elsewhere that there's only one memory slot, and 8GB is the maximum capacity. So no, you can't expand it beyond what it ships with.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I don't know about this model, but "expandable to" customarily indicates the max memory that can be installed. If it comes with less than max, your expansion cost depends on whether there's an empty slot(s) to add to the original memory or whether you have to buy the full amount you want and replace the original memory.
