If this item meets all your other desires except for the SSD, it can be upgraded by the user. See my answer about memory upgrades in another question posted here. You can swap the 1T 5400 rpm Toshiba HDD for any 2.5" SATA III device. However, If you neither want to tinker nor find a use for a spare hard drive, I'd recommend paying more for a computer that has an SSD already provided. I have not found any computer at this size, and similar specs for the same price and an SSD.If you wait long enough, that situation may change. I was already waiting about a year before I decided on this one.

Question is ambiguous but I will assume you are asking if the drive is solid-state. It is not. It has a 1 TB mechanical drive as indicated by the feature description that mentions spindle speed. 1TB hard drive for ample file storage space Holds a sizeable collection of digital photos, music, HD videos and DVD-quality movies. 5400 rpm spindle speed for standard read/write times.
