• Yes you can use it with a desktop computer. I wouldn't go farther than about 5 feet from the computer.

• As long as your desktop has a free USB port, yes it can be used with it. Unsure how far away from the computer you can be and still have it work. For sure if you're 10 feet away it will still work.
