I believe that HP has discontinued this laptop so they no longer make new ones. Having said this, they have to refurbish the ones that they have to make them like new. I have been using this laptop for a week now and the battery life is actually really good for me! Also, it comes with a charger. I don't think that the charger that I got with mine was the original one but it works just as well! Hope this helps.

As for the reason it's refurbished, that is something that HP Support has more knowledge about. Refurbished units have the same warranty as their new counterparts.
