Thank you for the question. The HP Envy 17-cr0013dx laptop has an Intel® Core™ i7-1260P that has 12 cores (4 performance cores and 8 efficiency cores) and 16 threads.

The Intel Core i7–1260P Computer chip, Per the Intel website, Has 16 Threads, the virtual components or codes, that divide the physical core of a CPU into virtual multiple cores. A single CPU core can have up-to 2 threads per core. This chip, according to the spec sheet, has a total of 12 cores, so you'd expect it to have 24 threads; however, 4 of the 12 are Performance-cores That do not have threads —Only the 8 Efficient-cores have threads, Hence, This chip has 16 threads.
