Q: QuestionIt sounds like RAM can be upgraded only by replacing the current RAM. What are the options for new cards? My Windows 10 laptop runs tight with 20GB, so guessing Windows 11 would want more. IIRC new parts are only covered if HP does the upgrade.
Asked by MLW52.
- A:Answer Thank you for the question. With the 12th generation processor that utilizes efficiency and performance cores, you may not have the need to upgrade the RAM (plus, Windows 11 was developed for better processor efficiency). But if you decided to increase memory, you could go as high as 64GB and you'd want to use DDR4 RAM (3200 MHz). We highly suggest using a professional technician such as Geek Squad to perform the upgrade. Note that while upgrading does not void the original warranty, damage to adjacent components in the course of upgrading would not be covered under the warranty.

Any upgrades done for this unit should be done by a certified technician. If Geek Squad does the upgrades, it will not void the warranty, but HP will not cover the new parts.
