A:Answer I'm not sure if you're questioning this laptop (17M-AE111DX) or questioning hardware in general.
First, you listed two types of hard drives (storage). The SATA is a Hard Disk Drive (HDD) which is a mechanical-type drive because its disks spin and its read-write arms move. The Solid State Drive (SSD), however, is entirely electronic because it has no moving parts.
This laptop has a mechanical hard drive. It's a good hard drive and if you're just playing music, you wouldn't notice any lag with 16 GB RAM.
Although Solid State Drives (all electronic) are faster, you wouldn't notice the faster speed with 16 GB RAM (memory). To notice the speed of a Solid State Drive, you'd need more RAM...perhaps 64 GB or more. Windows 10 Home can address (point to) up to 128 GB (2 × 64 GB sticks of RAM). Therefore, the more RAM the better. However, you should have a greater concern...storage.
Solid State Drives are expensive to manufacture, so that's why we're currently seeing only 128, 256 and 512 GB drives in laptops. As the cost to make comes down, so will the prices. I say this because you're a DJ. A DJ depends on storage. I'd think 1 TB vs. 256 GB would be a no-brainer.
How much digital music do you have? How much will you get? If you did "upgrade" to 256 GB, you won't have 256 GB to store music. The Windows operating system alone will consume 20 GB.
This laptop is fine for basic stuff and music. It also seems solidly built for your traveling. You could always add more RAM if you need and while prices come down, you could always buy an external SSD...or replace this HDD.
