Thanks for all the responses. I have since purchased this and can verify that the keyboard IS in fact backlit in both attached AND detached modes. While this is certainly a plus, I do have to mention that there is an unexpectedly significant amount of light leakage that emanates from beneath the keys. I've gotten used to it, but it can make deciphering the individual keys a touch more difficult (at least initially). Pic attached.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes the keyboard is backlit.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.the detachable keyboard is not backlit; however, if you are using it in tablet mode the touch keyboard is on the screen and you could use it in the dark.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes there is. Mine came with backlite of. So u have to hit FN button and the 5 button on very top row of keys, u csn shut it off and on like that to save on battery when you dont need it on, and it's awsome, great computer, fast. I love it, better bang for ya buck than the surface pro 3 which I took back for this 15.6 hp. I don't regret as I'm a photographer it's great, the surface didn't do what I was told would do and wasn't that great and over priced had to pay extra for key boad. on this HP came with key boad yes had to buy pen but is still cheaper than the surface pro 3.
