My take but you might want to know

First impression was great; the build quality felt great, the materials were smooth, the looks gave an image of a well designed and solid build. The stand was easy to use and gave for great viewing angles. Speakers sounded good and the keyboard worked as expected. Even the keyboard had a premium feel with the soft back cloth and soft leather. The specs were nice with 8gb of RAM, dual core processor and very clear and bright screen.
So why all the past tense in my review (where, was and had)...well 3 days into ownership and then hard drive error. Of course this would only need to happen during a very crucial document I was creating for work. Nothing extreme was happening in the environment; I was simply plugging the charger in - it locked the screen - no response - windows error shows the ;( and that it will reboot - then the hard drive error.
I really wanted to like this product because it had so much going for it but I have grown little patience for premium products that...well...fail.

I love this laptop! Super fast! Great for work, or gaming. Use the touch screen or the keyboard. It's like working on a large tablet with a kickstand. The only con is that if you are somewhere that doesn't have a hard surface to work on, you will need to hold it in your lap flat, but it's not terrible to do so. Large screen so you'll need a larger bag. The weight is a bit more than the typical laptop, too. The speed, large screen, and ease of use make it worth the purchase!

I was looking for an upgrade from an old Dell laptop and a backup for my desk top. After a lot of research I settled on the HP brand because of its ranking in best brands for computers.
The Envy stood out because of the Hybrid drive and I wanted something with a minimum 8GB memory. It took some getting used to, but I love this laptop. It's user friendly for someone techie challenged like myself. The keyboard is optional since the Envy has a touch screen. It's a sleek machine, the display is clear, and it's very portable (although heavier than I expected). Side note: you will need to purchase a touch screen stylus since the machine does not come with one.
This laptop came with dragon software as well as presentation software which was a selling point for me because of my line of work. I haven't used the free upgrade to Windows 10 as of yet, so I'm still running 8.1 and happy with it. I did purchase and install Microsoft Office 365 and have no complaints.
Overall a great laptop with an affordable price tag. I would recommend this to anyone, professional, student, or for home use.

Although I purchased this laptop as a tablet and laptop replacement, I wouldn't necessarily recommend it for high resource applications. It's great for web browsing and microsoft office, but at times the system becomes laggy and the touchscreen unresponsive when using applications requiring 512MB of RAM or more. It's portable and the keyboard cover is magnetized which provides a good screen protector for travel.

I loved the idea of getting a Surface Pro, but it was pricy and I thought the keyboard was flimsy (and extra $$). I also wanted more on board storage capacity, so this HP Envy tablet/pc is perfect. I can adjust the easel back and rest it on my lap or stand it up on a counter (or wherever!) to watch Netflix, Optimum TV or just play around. I work remotely some days, and it's working well set up as the traditional PC. The light touch of the keyboard took a little getting used to (but I did), and I may get a Bluetooth one with the numbers on the side like a full-size keyboard for those heavy Excel-use days. Other than that, I'm liking the flexibility and easy portability of the device. The Beats audio is great (had it on my last HP notebook) for streaming or listening to my music.
Having a little trouble finding a sleeve to fit this size, but I'm sure I'll come across one eventually-- with the speakers beside the monitor it is wider than a traditional 15.6" and doesn't fit in the bags or sleeves, but it's not quite as wide as a 17.3". This is not as lightweight as a Surface Pro, but I don't need it to be that light-- durability it important to me. For this price, I am happy with the great specs this device has.

When purchased in March 2015, I had no idea that the HP Envie was in its first year as a product. Although I'm enjoying the product, I'm still getting used to the touch screen and the "smart phone" characteristics of this laptop. For this reason, I purchased a Geek Squad subscription that I've used at least 6 times over the past 2 months simply because I needed help in learning to maneuver in this technology. (No, neither Geek Squad nor Best Buys paid me to say that). The selling point for me was the Bluetooth keyboard. I really like the layout where the mouse pad is to the side rather then in the center, below the space bar as well as the ability of the screen to separate from the keyboard. That's really cool as is the thin keyboard. Yeah, I recommend this product but with reservations.

I think HP has scored a winner with the 15-in touch-screen hybrid computer! I looked at the MS Surface, but the largest screen was too small for work use (and more mature eyes) , and the keyboard too small for long use (squeezing your hands together within a ~10-inch space). I'm normally a Mac user, but Apple refuses to make a touchscreen laptop (big mistake!). This HP Envy is the best of all worlds! It operates as a touchscreen tablet with script or finger writing capability, has a magnet connected backlit keyboard and touch mouse for those who prefer a traditional experience. The 15-inch screen is great for watching video! My only slight annoyance is that with the touch mouse, you must choose either left or right click as the function. I would recommend purchase of a wireless mouse for professional use to allow right and left click functionality, and a privacy screen for travel.

Bought This Laptop For My Father And He Loved It! He Is A Computer Nerd Anyways, So He Likes To Try Out All The New Tech That Comes Out! Love The Fact The Keyboard Comes With It And It Is Really Nice. Speakers Sound Good! A+ For Beats Audio! It Is Bigger Than Most Of Competitive Items, But The Size Is Perfect. Bigger The Better!

Screen size and audio quality make for a great video experience. But the form factor is awkward for transporting, as it will not fit into many cases. The oversized touchpad is in an unusual position resulting in continued mis-reaching if you are a laptop user, but it's fine if you use a mouse or stylus. This is a great computer for graphic design or CAD applications. The screen is quite heavy and the full sized keyboard very light, which would make it unbalanced; however there is a built in kickstand which mitigates this issue. Overall, this computer is terrific for some uses and awful for others.

I was a little worried about having Windows 8 but find that it is very similar to my phone and just getting used to it is all it takes. For the most part if you want to use the computer instead of the windows function all you need to do is stay on that and it will open to it every time.
I am now used to going back and forth so I definitely like having the touch screen etc. I'm not a big pad user so I ended up plugging in a wireless mouse. Unfortunately doing that is taking up one of only two USB ports. I wish they had put in more than two but that is what you get.
Other than that I believe it to be a very fast response computer. I also like the folding keyboard that comes with it so you can fold it under while you're using it or fold only half of it up until you come back. I opted for the 15" screen over the 13" because I was downsizing from a 17". With the wide screen on this product I don't really miss the bigger screen at all.
So far so good so yes I'd recommend this purchase to anyone.

This device is basically just what I was looking for wish it had a little longer battery life it's good but not great 15.9 screen is great just suck up so much battery and the processor could be a little more powerful but then there goes the battery again. What it needs is a dual life when plugged in it should be super charged and on battery it needs to be Clark Kent. But over all I like it .just wish someone made a screen protector just for it.

I really like my HP laptop/tablet hybrid. The only thing I wish the salesman would have told me is that the 3 different free protection packages they give you for free are not good at all. I chose webroot because the salesman said they were all about the same. In less than a week, my brand new computer had been hacked by multiple sources, had multiple viruses, trojan horse, you name it -it was a huge mess! I had to purchase a $299 3 year protection plan from HP but they helped me fix it.

Love the touch screen.
Love it that when I need a keyboard, I can quickly attach keyboard.
Love if that when I DON'T need a keyboard, I can detach keyboard and just scroll through email, pictures, or web sites.
Love that the keyboard will operate even though it isn't attached to the tablet. It actually works quite well if the tablet is 10'-15' away from keyboard (streaming video from my tablet to my large screen TV while I'm sitting on the couch).
Love the high resolution and large screen of the tablet.
EASY startup.

I have been a PC guy since 8088 computers in the 80's. The HP Envy 2 works more easily and efficient than any I have used in the past. The Beats speakers have great sound quality and the detaching keyboard is comfortable and ergonomically useful. Having the touchpad on the right side like where I have my mouse usually is more natural. The touch screen tech is so much better than always having to use a mouse. Getting used to Windows 8. Really could not have made a better choice

This device can do just about everything my laptop can do; however, the processor is a bit too slow and the 8GB of RAM barely makes up for it. Otherwise, I downloaded all of the apps I had on my laptop and it worked fine.

When this computer first came out back in late 2014, I feel in love with it at first sight. But the very hefty price tag of around $1,200 was a bit to much for my wallet. And ever since then I managed to learn everything about it. And now that I managed to find it at best buy at a whopping bargain price that I could afford, I bought it. And it is everything I have always wanted and more. It's as if God him/her self made it just for me!!!
The question is: would I recommend it, YES OH YES, I HIGHLY RECOMEND IT!!!!

Very versatile with many great functions. The removable keyboard making that converts the monitor into a tablet is useful for meeting presentations and taking notes I was concerned with the large size of the monitor but have found it to be an advantage. No regrets on this purchase.
